West, Texas part II...

very out of focus.  I cannot shoot moving objects.

After the plant explosion in West, we went the next weekend to visit Rosalie in Hillsboro and take her some goodies.

We were joined by one of Rosalie's former nurses from the West nursing home, Joanna, and her two-year-old son, CJ.
So basically we fit 5 adults and 2 kids in a tiny room.  I'm forgetting her name but we had to apologize profusely to her roommate for the momentary chaos. (She could not hear anyway...)

Even though Rosalie and her roommate were 90+ and the boys 2+, there were many similarities between all of them:

1. They all require a lot of supervision during meal times.

Rosalie has complained about how terrible the food is at her current residence.  She has had several discussions with the staff on how they can improve.  She says, "Because I am the queen, they do what I say."  While it is true Rosalie is the current reigning queen of West (Queen of Westfest) I don't think it means much to the residents of Hillsboro.

Also, I doubt Whataburger is much better, but the queen wanted a cheese burger.

Vivek had to eventually cut up Rosalie's burger so that she could manage it better.  Both Rosalie and the boys made a huge mess from the food that missed their mouths.  (I mean, I guess you could throw V in there too...)

2. Photos are nearly impossible to get...

This is the best shot of Rosalie and Alex.  He looks like he's sitting for his last portrait before execution.  Rosalie looks good and is healing nicely from the glass wounds.

"Shit, he's heavy..."  You can even see the word forming in her mouth...

They got progressively worse...

Notice her roommate reading a note in the background...that is how they communicate...
"shit"

If Alex starts saying "shit" it wasn't us...

3.  You have to repeat yourself several times to be understood

4.  You have to adhere to nap time.  We took one last picture and tucked Rosalie in for nap time before we hit the road again for Alex's car ride nap time.

We drove in to West to pick up Kolaches and drive by her old house.
No one was allowed to drive down the main street where majority of the damage is.

Now look, I can't tell the difference between Czech Stop and anywhere else, but the residents go here.  Probably because Czech Stop is crowded all the time.  So you know...try it next time you drive through and judge for yourself.

This is Rosalie's old house.  A younger couple moved in and have changed it up just a little.  They cut out all the bushes, hung a Texas Star on the front porch and are proudly waving their American flag.

I wanted to knock on the door and just ask to see what they've done with it, but decided that V and I were not the people who should do something like that...

There's a lot of memories in that tiny, old house...
