Skipping winter

Even though I love cold weather and really missed it this year, the early spring days are nothing to complain about.
We are in plant/garden mode again, determined that no plant gets left behind (dies). The two plants in my windowsill are Ranger and Dad (Ranger on the left, Dad on the right). Each plant was given to us at their time of death and we have managed to keep them alive for many years now...ironically, Ranger ate my Dad's plant down to the stems one time.
I'm not sure if V's peach tree got enough "chill hours" this year, but the blossoms are beautiful.

I was saved a lot of personal embarrassment when I overheard one of the professionals try to explain to an older man that there have been no studies to prove that these plants ward of mosquitoes. I'm sure that man was sent by his wife to pick out all of the plants she saw on Pinterest, and then he got the receiving end of this annoyed employee's soap box on Science. He kept trying to explain to the good husband that studies have shown that oils extracted from these plants (Hello, Essential Oils) can be effective, but that just planting the plants alone does not keep mosquitoes away.
Good thing I overheard because I almost asked, and that stern lecture would have made me cry.
We have also visited the Arboretum's blooms several times this month.

You know you've graduated to a new age bracket when you think that, maybe, you could sit alone at the Arboretum every day and just stare at all the flowers and be happy.
