Another product review
Each year, teachers often spend hundreds of dollars out of pocket on supplies for their classroom. We're always looking for a good deal and often buy things at not the best deal because we also really love school supplies. A lot.
I tested Target brand (up & up) glue and dry erase markers to see if they held a candle to Elmers and Expo.
The up & up brand of dry erase markers came with 10 (red not shown) and cost $6.99. I have used them since November and they have held up! I guard them like a woman possessed, but the students have still used them to write "________________ waz here". They don't smell as strong as Expo and erase very easily. I just use Kleenex (up & up brand...it's not my nose! I stash Aloe infused Kleenex in my drawer) as an eraser. They also write very smooth. Expo sells a pack of 17 for $18.99.
up & up: 6.99/10 = .70 per marker
Expo: 18.99/17 = $1.12 per marker
up & up gets a big emoji thumbs up.
The best deal by far in my school supply shopping was the up & up brand glue sticks.
I waited until they were trying to clear out the back to school section and bought them on clearance for $1.47 (for an entire 12 pack of the bigger glue sticks). Our students use a lot of glue to paste notes into their notebooks. Five classes x 20+ students use a lot of glue over time as they also eat it, break it off and throw it, and generally abuse the stick to a non-working condition. This glue works just as good as Elmers and with one stick of Elmer's glue costing $3.99, the Target brand is definitely a win.
Perhaps I will venture out of school supplies to try more up & up products, but probably not because I'm a huge product brand snob. I also stress out easily reading product reviews. Maybe I'll test them first on my child and my dog. #science
