Snow day
I told myself that I would not post about our snow day today, especially since we just had snow days last week (documentation in post: Snapshot(s): Winter). But today was way more fun than our days off last week because it was sunny and there was no rain. I really showed some self-restraint and did not post hourly on Facebook.
The day started out with a mystery...and a thankful prayer to God that we were not murdered in the night because I definitely left the garage door open last night WITH the light on. It was a beacon of temptation all night for anyone wandering around in the rain/sleet/wind/snow.
Someone did pay us a visit though.
After a thorough investigation of the evidence and a lot of thinking, V concluded that a small animal (he's hoping a baby fox...I'm hoping a tiny shoe maker) wandered in our garage sometime between the hours of 6 PM, when I made it home and walked in NOT closing the garage door, and whenever it stopped snowing. This is supported by the fact that there is only one set of tracks. So if they came AND went, they backtracked perfectly, or were carried by Jesus. The small creature is believed to have slept in a warm corner away from the elements until pre-sunrise, when it braved the 20 degree temps to meet friends for brunch. They were a good garage guest as there was no evidence of scat, urine, trash, or blood. And everything in the garage was accounted for.
After we followed the tracks down the ally until we lost them, we played in the snow. We went for a walk down the street to see how icy things were and I guiltily watched as Alex tromped through most of our neighbors' front yards. People probably love looking out their windows to untrodden blankets of snow, right? Not crazy tracks of drunk footsteps (that's how Alex walks in his 2 sizes too small snow boots) and huge craters where he drunkenly fell down.
When we came home, we tried a few failed attempts at a snowman. It should have been easier than we made it because I saw a lot of badass snow people posted today. The albedo off the snow was really blinding, and I couldn't find my sunglasses, so I threw on my beach hat. This then sparked the idea to bring out the beach toys, and we made a snow castle.
Then Alex performed an interpretive dance for our pre-lunch entertainment.
Today rocked!
To all my friends who knew her, my great aunt Rosalie passed last weekend. I will be attending her funeral tomorrow to round out the week before spring break starts.
Happy Friday!
